So now that I am totally addicted to building these things.... Hoping that I can find a 12 step program.... but until I do I was wondering if a 220 Swift will fit in a short action?

Yes they do no problem, you will love that caliber.

Dean,
I was hoping to hear from you regarding this! I am still waiting on the 264 barrel and bolt head to get here. So I have time on my hands, summer has to get here soon! I really like the looks of the Shaw barrels with the fluting but are they money well spent. I have never shot one or even seen one for that matter. I sure like the Shilen barrels so im not sure about taking the leap. But if I have to wait I might as well get what I want....
Am hoping to shoot a 60 grain bullet. Thinking a 1 in 9 twist at 26" am I on the right track here
Hey Ryan you will be fine with that 9 twist, you will be able to shoot all the way up to those 90 grainer's we obviously leaned toward the 220 swift for different reasons, me nothing exits the barrel under 4500FPS, it's all good.

Will a 1 in 14 be able to handle a 55grner? I see that Jim actually has one in stock......
Yes it will
To me a swift that goes fast is more fun, than a swift that goes heavy, hense the name swift.

220 is a great little cartridge and fun too. Have you checked out the 223 WSSM? It is a speed demon as well.
I agree with Dean here. Go with the slower twist hence the more speed.
Well after more reading and thought I am going to take your advise and get that barrel. I looked again this morning and its a 1 in 12 not a 14. Now to find a donor action.....
Thank you guys for all the advise on this.... Its gonna be a fun build!
Ryan
Just a heads up the shell holder is totally unique to the 220 swift,
