Question on gains in velocity from Benchmark barrels
Hi all,
I've seen the great reviews of the Benchmade barrels for quality, accuracy, etc., I'm interested in another aspect of their barrels as well. There are several different posts about Benchmark barrels delivering faster muzzle velocities than similar match barrels. I'd like to hear from owners of Benchmark barrels and hear your experiences with these gains. Both if you've seen it, as well as if you haven't.
A couple of questions that jump out at me:
1. How many shooters have experienced the gains, and if so, to what extent? Is it consistent?
2. If there's a gain, does it vary by powder, bullet range, or some other variables?
3. What would cause this velocity gain?
Hopefully, some other shooters have some interest or experience in this particular issue.
Thanks for any answers.
Re: Question on gains in velocity from Benchmark barrels
My Benchmark 24" 308 gets about 50-75fps faster speeds than my friend's 24" Shilen Select Match with the same loads. I do not know why. Both have a bout the same number of rounds through them. Neither of them copper foul enough to even mention. Both are very accurate. I would not hesitate to buy another Benchmark.
