First introduced in 2010 as the Savage Edge, the entry level Savage Axis (name changed due to copyright/trademark issues) has taken the shooting world by storm in just a few short years. In fact, last I heard (summer 2012) Savage had sold nearly a quarter million units in two years time which is quite an accomplishment. To put that into perspective, that's 342.5 Axis rifles being sold every single day for two years.

Model 25 Walking Varminter outfitted with a Harris Benchrest bipod and a Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9x40mm scope.

Introduced at the January 2011 SHOT Show, Savage's Model 25 Walking Varminter has gotten off to a rather slow start. In fact, it's taken Savage a year and a half to begin shipping them from their factory. The hold-up, as I understand it, had to do with production delays associated with synthetic stock that is unique to this model.

Like all Model 25's, the new Walking Varminter is based around a beefed up rimfire-style action. The bolt is of the 3-lug design and features a 45-degree throw for better scope clearance. Other features of the action include the adjustable 3.5 to 6-lb AccuTrigger and a side-mount two position safety - both of which are carried over from the rimfire rifles. The action ...

This is actually the second time I have reviewed a Predator Hunter model in this caliber - the first time being when the Predator Hunter first came out back in the summer of 2007. The only difference was that last time it was a right-hand model with a blind magazine and wearing Mossy Oak Bush camouflage, while this time around it’s a left-hand model with a detachable box magazine (DBM) and RealTree MAX-1 camouflage. ...

Out of the secret laboratory of Savage comes a new rifle called the Axis, a lower cost, rugged rifle, based off the Savage 110 design marketed towards the younger shooter, with an all-new modern design. The Axis is designed to compete against the Remington 770 rifle, and other entry class hunting rifles. Savage did a good job of keeping this rifle a secret, as soon as I heard that such a rifle existed, I had to get one to see what it was all about.

The year of 2009 has been a big year for Savage as they have released several new models to their lineup. One new rifle in the line-up that caught my eye was the new Model 10 Precision Carbine. This rifle features the new “Accu-Stock” with a digital camouflage finish, a shorter 20” barrel with a medium-heavy contour that falls between the standard heavy “varmint” and “sporter” contours, and a detachable magazine. ...

AR styling meets bolt action precision, the result being the new Savage Model 10 BAT/S-K in .308 Winchester. When I first opened the box I was very impressed. I had seen pictures of this fine rifle online, but to actually handle one brought it home how much effort Savage put into this new law enforcement offering. ...

I was ecstatic when I saw the new Savage models for the 2009 year; you could say (like the old Saturday Night Live saying, holding my shirt out) “I was as happy as a little girl.” ...

For 2009 Savage has released a new and improved version of their synthetic stocks dubbed the AccuStock. While the outward appearance of the AccuStock looks identical to the old flimbsy synthetic stocks, it's what's hidden inside that really matters. ...

Two years ago when Savage Arms first announced the Classic series of centerfire rifles, those of us who are lefties wondered how long it would take them to offer a left-hand version. For 2008 that question has been answered. Another added bonus is that for 2008 you can now get a detachable box magazine models chambered in 204 Ruger and 223 Remington.

It's no secret that Savage has decided to get into the F-Class game. This should prove to be very interesting since F-Class is one of the fastest growing shooting sports in the world at the moment. Savage has entered two models into this sport to become the only major factory to have a dedicated line of rifles for F-Class use. ...
