The year of 2009 has been a big year for Savage as they have released several new models to their lineup. One new rifle in the line-up that caught my eye was the new Model 10 Precision Carbine. This rifle features the new “Accu-Stock” with a digital camouflage finish, a shorter 20” barrel with a medium-heavy contour that falls between the standard heavy “varmint” and “sporter” contours, and a detachable magazine. ...

AR styling meets bolt action precision, the result being the new Savage Model 10 BAT/S-K in .308 Winchester. When I first opened the box I was very impressed. I had seen pictures of this fine rifle online, but to actually handle one brought it home how much effort Savage put into this new law enforcement offering. ...

One thing I have noticed in the benchrest match shooting game is that there are different opinions on what equipment is the best. Many debates have been feuded on what is the best barrel, who makes the best action, and many other arguments on what is the best this or that. One thing that the majority agrees on though is that the Harrell Powder Measure is the best measuring device on the market.

Earlier this year I was at the Firearms Industry Super Shoot at Kelby’s range, [readers should know that this event draws in the best shooters from around the world] and as I was walking around in the loading barn I started looking at everyone’s set-ups. It didn’t take me long to realize that probably 90% of the shooters were using Harrell’s powder measures. I saw a couple ...

I was ecstatic when I saw the new Savage models for the 2009 year; you could say (like the old Saturday Night Live saying, holding my shirt out) “I was as happy as a little girl.” ...

For 2009 Savage has released a new and improved version of their synthetic stocks dubbed the AccuStock. While the outward appearance of the AccuStock looks identical to the old flimbsy synthetic stocks, it's what's hidden inside that really matters. ...

Let's take a look at a favorite of mine, a Stevens Favorite that is. The Stevens Favorite has been around in some form or another for well over a century. Having been designed for small game hunting and use by farmers in the late 1800's, the little Favorite is a very utilitarian design. ...

Not to long ago I realized I was long overdue to change the media in my tumbler. I have used walnut, corncob and treated corncob in the past with acceptable results, but was curious if there might be a better alternative out there. Walnut leaves my cases nice and shiny, but it loads up with resize lube pretty fast and thus requires frequent changes. Corncob works well for removing the lube and leaves my cases clean, but they're not near as shiny as those done with walnut. The Lyman Red Rough Treated Media results in the best shine, but the downside is you have to hand wipe all the red dust off the brass after tumbling to find it.

Since I was in need of some new media I decided to drive to the Cabala's in a near by town to see what they had. When I got back to the area with the media I found I had ...

I think it is safe to say that the 3-9 variable power scope is by far the most popular and widely used scope amongst hunters. Most manufacturers literally offer dozens of models with the 3-9 power range with varying features to meet each and every price point. ...

As a faithful Leupold customer for well over twenty five years I have never purchased a high dollar scope (relative to my pocket anyway) of any other brand. I would never consider such a foolish and senseless act. Of course I have been both praised and ridiculed for such loyalty depending on the crowd at hand. ...
