In January of 2013 Savage Arms announced an all new rifle chambered for an all new rimfire cartridge. The rifle was their new B-Mag bolt action, and the cartridge was the .17 Winchester Super Magnum. The first B-Mag rifles started showing up at the dealers in late summer and initial reports for the sporter barreled synthetic stocked model were ho-hum to say the least. Accuracy was sporadic and a good number of buyers experienced feeding ...

The fine folks at Savage Arms have been trying to regain a foothold in the American shotgun market for a little over a decade now. In 2004 Savage brought forth its first non-bolt action shotgun in over 15 years - the Russian made (Baikal) Stevens Model 411 Upland Sporter side-by-side 12-gauge shotgun. It was a nice looking, well made scatter gun with an MSRP of just $395, but it disappeared from the catalog after just one year.

Scout rifles were first defined and promoted by Jeff Cooper back in the early 1980ís as a new class of general-purpose rifles. Such rifles are based around a bolt-action rifle chambered in .308 Winchester (7.62x51mm), are less than a meter in length, weigh less than three kilograms (6.6-lbs), come with iron sights, are fitted with a practical sling (such as Ching slings) for shooting and ...

For those who ready my first review of Savageís new A17 semi-automatic .17 HMR rimfire rifle, you already know that it had some issues and accordingly my review of the rifle was less than favorable. Upon returning that first sample to Savage I expressed that I would be more than willing to review another one once they ...

Ever since the 17 Hornady Magnum Rimfire (HMR) hit the scene in 2002 shooters have been clamoring for someone to offer it in a semi-automatic rifle. Several aftermarket companies tried to come up with a workable solution for existing models, and Remington attempted to offer a model using their ...

Let's face it, the vast majority of rifle owners out there are hunters, and as hunters they typically only pull their rifles out of the closet or gun safe for a few weeks a year for hunting season. Each fall they dig it out of the back corner of the safe, blow the dust off, search ...

I have to start off this review with a confession of sorts. When I first learned of the new Model 42 from Savage Arms that was announced at the 2013 SHOT Show I was elated, but then when I saw the first pictures of it I'm pretty sure I used every foul word in the English language ...

I have always been a fan of the fast handling offered by rifles fitted with a 20-inch barrel, so when Savage announced a new heavy barreled model with a 20-inch barrel I was keenly interested and immediately put in a quest to receive one in .223 Remington. ...

First introduced in 2010 as the Savage Edge, the entry level Savage Axis (name changed due to copyright/trademark issues) has taken the shooting world by storm in just a few short years. In fact, last I heard (summer 2012) Savage had sold nearly a quarter million units in two years time which is quite an accomplishment. To put that into perspective, that's 342.5 Axis rifles being sold every single day for two years.

Model 25 Walking Varminter outfitted with a Harris Benchrest bipod and a Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9x40mm scope.

Introduced at the January 2011 SHOT Show, Savage's Model 25 Walking Varminter has gotten off to a rather slow start. In fact, it's taken Savage a year and a half to begin shipping them from their factory. The hold-up, as I understand it, had to do with production delays associated with synthetic stock that is unique to this model.
