One of the greatest mysteries for shooters has always been the condition of the bore in their rifles. How clean am I getting my barrels? Does my barrel have a carbon ring developing? How much throat erosion do I have? Is there any pitting in my barrel? All are questions that are impossible to answer without a bore scope, but most don’t want to or can't justify spending the money to purchase a professional quality bore scope given their cost. Lyman saw this gap in the market and decided to do something about it, and the resulting product is the BoreCam Digital Borescope that we are ...

Ask ten hand loaders what they use to prime their cases and you will likely get and equal number of different answers. Some folks like hand priming tools, others like bench priming tools, and then of course there are those who prefer to use the priming tool built into their reloading press. Each will have their justifications and reasoning as to why they prefer that style and method, but sometimes circumstances force you to change your process and adopt new methods. That's the situation I found myself in earlier this year and is the reason behind my recent purchase of the new Lee Auto Bench Prime priming tool.

    First, lets briefly ...

In January of 2013 Savage Arms announced an all new rifle chambered for an all new rimfire cartridge. The rifle was their new B-Mag bolt action, and the cartridge was the .17 Winchester Super Magnum. In my never ending quest to simplify and speed up my reloading process I decided that it was time I try out one of these new-fangled electronic powder dispensers/measures. Up to this point I have been using a Lyman No. 55 powder measure and a Lyman beam-type scale to dispense and weigh each and every charge. A random Lee Dipper scoop would be employed to "trickle" in ...

The fine folks at Savage Arms have been trying to regain a foothold in the American shotgun market for a little over a decade now. In 2004 Savage brought forth its first non-bolt action shotgun in over 15 years - the Russian made (Baikal) Stevens Model 411 Upland Sporter side-by-side 12-gauge shotgun. It was a nice looking, well made scatter gun with an MSRP of just $395, but it disappeared from the catalog after just one year.

If you’ve been a gun nut for any length of time you’ve surely learned that in this game sometimes you just have to man up and spend some money to get the quality that you really want. Whether it’s for a precision rifle, match grade barrel, competition ready pistol or in this case a top of the line scope, the old adage of “you get what you pay for” still applies in certain instances. That’s just what I did earlier this summer when I finally broke down and purchased the scope we are looking at today, a Vortex Viper PST ...
