About a year ago I found myself in need of a new powder scale. At that time I decided to try one of the electronic dispenser/scale combo’s, but I found that it was just too cumbersome and slow for my tastes and I made the decision to sell it and go back to a simple and convenient beam-type scale.

Over the past thirty five years I have had the opportunity to field test and evaluate a great deal of long range precision rifle equipment. Some have been high quality, solidly built and well thought out, and others – not so much. As a current member of the Savage Rifle Team, I have been very lucky to get my hands on some really good kit and outstandingly accurate rifles. However, I don’t think I’ve ever been luckier as a precision long range shooter than getting to field test Ashbury’s SuperSport MOD-1 Alloy Series modular rifle chassis. ...

One of the greatest mysteries for shooters has always been the condition of the bore in their rifles. How clean am I getting my barrels? Does my barrel have a carbon ring developing? How much throat erosion do I have? Is there any pitting in my barrel? All are questions that are impossible to answer without a bore scope, but most don’t want to or can't justify spending the money to purchase a professional quality bore scope given their cost. Some folks like hand priming tools, others like bench priming tools, and then of course there are those who prefer to use the priming tool built into their reloading press. Each will have their justifications and reasoning as to why they prefer that style and method, but sometimes circumstances force you to change your process and adopt new methods. That's the situation I found myself in earlier this year and is the reason behind my recent purchase of the new Lee Auto Bench Prime priming tool.

    First, lets briefly ...

In January of 2013 Savage Arms announced an all new rifle chambered for an all new rimfire cartridge. The rifle was their new B-Mag bolt action, and the cartridge was the .17 Winchester Super Magnum. The first B-Mag rifles started showing up at the dealers in late summer and initial reports for the sporter barreled synthetic stocked model were ho-hum to say the least. Accuracy was sporadic and a good number of buyers experienced feeding ...

In my never ending quest to simplify and speed up my reloading process I decided that it was time I try out one of these new-fangled electronic powder dispensers/measures. Up to this point I have been using a Lyman No. 55 powder measure and a Lyman beam-type scale to dispense and weigh each and every charge. A random Lee Dipper scoop would be employed to "trickle" in ...
