• How to Lengthen an Ejector

I'm in the midst of this build on a model 11 action with stagger feed blind .223 sized box, here is what i have found so far. The tiny lil 17 round looks very lost in the .223 mag, but mine feeds like a champ. I have the copper colored extractor, it's dropping the loaded rounds before they can be pulled back far enough to eject. I plan on updating the extractor to see if that will help. This action never dropped round when it was a .223. Has any one been down this road before? Was wondering if there might be something I might be missing?

When it clears the port, it flips out. A fireball case is so short that when it clears the mouth of the chamber, it will tip farther out because the case is shorter, and this distance is more than the travel of the ejector. Before the case neck can touch the raceway, the ejector is out of travel and leaves no tension on the case, hence the drop out of the bolt face. You need to lengthen the travel of the ejector by filing the notch lower, by about .020"

If anyone has tried this, does it work. Would it work for the 300 Blackout case.
