View Full Version : Need load data for 300 whisper

I am looking for load data for my new 300 whisper. I am wanting to use a rifle powder and not a pistol powder but have had no luck finding data for any. Can anyone point me in any direction?

Thanks for the links but I have seen them already. I am looking for data using rifle powders like 4198 and 322. I guess I will do some experimenting.

Found only one load using H4198

220grn Matchking with 14.0grn

I use H110 in mine all the time.

Are you planning on loading at subsonic levels?

Some of the slower pistol powders work great if you don&#39;t have to worry about cycling an auto.

If you are I have a ton of load data for a project I built a while back. It was Savage chambered in 7.62x25 Tokarev loaded with everything from 110 grain stuff all the way to 180 grain pills. The 180 grain loads were extremely accurate and quieter than a subsonic 22 LR out of a 16" 10/22. It used a 24.5" barrel to let all the powder burn and pressures drop signifacantly before the bullet exited.

If you are planning on running supersonic I can&#39;t help because almost everything I did and do is subsonic loads. The only supersonic load I did was 110 grain Varmint bullets at around 1700 fps.

My plan is to run super first and then try sub with a 150 or 168.

Sometime today or tomorrow I&#39;ll get what I found posted. I don&#39;t own a chrono but a guy I was working with on this has a program to calculate velocities, pressures and energy based on powder, primer, bullet and OAL. It was very accurate based on my drop.

I used nothing but pistol powders for subsonic, most were slower pistol powders to save the brass. I tested Clays at one point, it was super quiet but the pressure killed the primer pockets after one load so I quit using it. The best powder, if I remember correctly, was HS-6. It was consistent and quiet even without a silencer.
