Looking for some good load data for 120gr. SP for the 6.5x.284, 8 twist barrel. This should be a screamer, flat shooter for whitetails, have used this a lot in 6.5 swede out to 500yds, should do lots better in the bigger caliber. All replys welcome.

I had one built in 1984 but with 1-10 twist all i shot was 120 gr sie flat base spt. i don't know your chamber or gun but mine was on mod 70 win post 64 action case dia on mine is close to 6.5 284 norma except for the neck my two savage necks run at .297 but the neck on my old gun goes out to
.307 win cases neck down 210 pri 57gr. of the old mr 3100 dont even think they make it any more, could only buy it in 8lb plastic jugs but was cheap about 26 dollars only bought two jugs wish i would have bought 20 more. that load shot at 3250 with out sticky bolt. held 5shot 5/8 group. took it out to 3380 in the summer and pri pocket loosend up on it. The only gun i have hunted with since then. It left copper behind though always kept sweets on hand. savage test fired my 111 long range hunter with nosler group size was 1/2 inch 3 shot. nosler and hornady both make good hunting bullets for that cal. in the 120 class. plenty of horsepower out to 500yds on deer size animals. You will like the results. Caution don't waste a lot of time group shooting on paper find one that works dope your yardages or you will wear your barrel out. mine is finally going wont hold 5 shot groups anymore that why i brought the 111 long range hunter. h-4350 or h-4831 should do fine.

Mine is a Cooper 1 in 9 twist and shoot the 142 gr Sierra Match Kings with 47gr RL-22 Fed 215M set .005 of lands shoots 5 shot group under 3" at 600 yards. Be careful as 6.5 x 284 are real BARREL BURNERS and only last 600 to 900 rounds.
