How to remove "SAVAGE" name from bolt?

Is there a way to remove the "SAVAGE" name that is inscribed on the bolt of my 116?

I'm curious if this is just "printed" on the bolt, or if it is some kind of laser engraving? I would not want to mess up the nice "turned" finish that the rest of the bolt currently has.

Polish it on a buffing wheel with compound and it will come right off.

A scotchbrite pad will do it in a few minutes by hand.

Just be careful that while polishing by whatever means you don't......"mess up the nice "turned" finish that the rest of the bolt currently has.

I don't have a "wheel", but I've got some polishing compound and plenty of elbow grease available. ;-)

Sorry, I'm just not feelin' the BIG name on the bolt. I guess I grew up in the time when the brand name was stamped in the barrel and that's it. :(

I've thought about the same question, but I'm always stopped because my bolt is black and I'd be messing up the finish permanently.
