Can a Stevens 200 trigger be adjusted

Can the stock trigger on a Stevens 200 be adjusted for a lighter pull or do I have to go to a aftermarket trigger such as the Rifle Basic?

You can lighten it up a tad. Whats better is to find a 3-screw style Savage trigger and use that, its a direct swap. Then you are totally adjustable. Or you could go aftermarket and get the best options. I say for a hunting or informal target rig go with the 3-screw.

If you lighten up your 200 trigger just be sure not to go to far. Otherwise it may trip on its own so to speak.

Do a search in here and there are several threads about trigger adjustment that will tell you what you want to know.

I hope Jim got some more of his 3-screw tirggers in, I asked him about getting one a couple months ago when ordering my CBI barrel and he said he was out and wasn't sure when he was getting more. If he gets more in I know I'll be getting one. Maybe he'll chime in here and let us know.....

Do they still make new Savage 3 screw triggers?

The Rifle Basix Sav-1 trigger is a three screw trigger with a much better spring design.

Yes, it cost more, but it is a direct drop in for a Stevens 200 action and not too bad of a trigger.

The Rifle Basix sav-1 is a nice trigger and is nice for hunting but for a few dollars more you could get an SSS trigger that I think is much nicer.

True, after cutting a notch in the trigger bracket and grinding trigger guard down, the SSS is nicer ...

You only have to cut the notch on the Accu-Trigger models.
