I have a 300 Savage lever action in win.300... made in 1941... mounted with weaver 4X... nice looking rifle... Is there anything good or bad about these rifles I should know... what I know is what I have said above... lol
I was offered $300 for it.. but was leary of the offer, the guy is a known flim-flam artist type...
I am not looking for a price range on the rifle.. just anything good or bad about them that might be general knowledge in the gun world.
Any help will be welcome

It's probably 300 Savage caliber, not 300 win. $300 is a reasonable bottom line for an EG model with the schnable forend curl. It is not a collector given it's been drilled for scope mounts. There are a bunch on gunbroker to compare value (check the ones that are getting bids, not the ones with zero bids, as they're probably over priced)

my father has used a model 99 in 300 sav with a old cheap 4x on it for hunting his whole life. the poor thing is beat up and rusty, but he swears by it and wont use anything else.

Only thing to know is that if it has the cartfidge in mag counter do NOT mess with it. It is nearly impossible to get it working again.

300.00 is way low even if it has been drilled for mounts. The .300 savage is just a sneeze behind the .308 savage and it is a fine performer on all species except grizzlys. I cant understand why everyone always assumes that values have everything to do with caliber. The model 99 lever is true artwork all by itself. It is one of the most uncomplicated centerfire levers going and one of the strongest as well. Dont sell it and enjoy it. Since it is drilled put a modern scope on it and hunt with it.
