Did a bit of chronographing with Superformance powder today in a 24" 300 wsm.
130 gr Speer HP, 77gr SuperF, avg 3524 fps, published 3645 fps
130 gr Speer HP, 70gr 760, avg 3406 fps, published 3437
30" barrel, 130gr Speer HP, 70gr 760, avg 3557 fps, published 3437
30" barrel, 130 gr Speer HP, 77gr SuperF, avg 3759
150gr FMJBT, 74gr SuperF, avg 3347, published 3410
150gr SP, 66gr 760, avg 3188, published 3204
30" barrel, 150gr SP, 66gr 760, avg 3300, published 3204
30" barrel, 150gr FMJBT,74gr SuperF, avg 3538
I was a bit suprised the Super Formance was under published data but, it did meter well and recoil seemed to be more of a shove than a kick. The powder seems to be dirtier than 760 or Reloader 22. Accuracy was best with the 130 gr load but I could only get about 3" at 200 yards. The 150 FMJ loads were a waste of powder and bullets as far as accuracy goes.
Next step is to chrono these loads in the 30" barrel.
