I bought a pound of RE-15 because there was no Varget, but I have been wanting to try RE-15 anyways. Anyone have a good load for .308 Win that I can try?

I have Lapua brass, 110gr or 168gr V/A-Max, CCI BR2 or Fed 210m.

Thanks

43.6 under a 168smk is what our ar-10's eat, it meters allot better in the dillon, the load data for re-15 and varget are almost interchangable...

43 gr. of RL-15, 175 SMK and Lapua brass should give you a great load.

rl-15 42.5 gr

168-gr SMK
42.2 gr. RL-15
CCI LR
Win brass (neck sized after fireforming)
COAL: 2.791 (about 15 thou off)
Savage M12 VLP

Groups depend on me more than the rifle; 0.5 MOA @ 200 common.

I'm still experimenting, and by the time I'm through, quit or go broke, I will have explored RL-15, Win 748, IMR 4064 and Varget. May also try IMR 3031, which some people love. So far, 42.2 RL-15 seems to be the best.

Win 760 will be your new best friend.

Hmm. Interesting. Alliant list 45.0 gr as max charge for a 168 gr bullet at 2710 fps. Anyone chrono their 42 - 43 gr loads?

So here was the result of 42.0 gr RE15, Lapua brass, Federal 210m primers, 168 gr A-max, 2.805" COAL, .308 Win

The was a white out sticker on the target before I shot the group. I guess the range master had covered it rather than change out the entire target board. It just so happened that my zero was right on it.

First four shots were under .3" ctc I nerfed the fifth shot (the top most hole) because I got so excited about the first four. 5 shots ctc measure .538". Needless to say I am very impressed with RE15.

I am a huge RE-15 fan for both the 6BR and the 308. It beats Varget in my barrels. My experience is that you need to shoot it at the upper end of the load range. If you don't it leaves a lot of residue in the barrel. When I was working up my load latter, I got the dirtiest patches I have even seen while cleaning. Shoot it wide-open and not near as bad. Some of the F-Class guys will got out and shoot a 66-70 round match without cleaning their barrel using RE-15.

Just my 2 cents, Tim

I'm using 43.5g RL15 with the 175 smk and I'm getting 2600 out of a 20" barrel. Shoots great and runs a little hotter than FGMM 175 (20.0 moa up for 700 yards, compared to 20.75 moa for the FGMM in my rifle).

my Savage 308 shoots 3031 and 4895 under 168 amaxes about the same accuracy very good one hole groups at 100 yds

I'd never tried Reloader-15 in my 10FLP before, I did today and it looks like I'll have to get some more! ;D

Well, my mind was totally immersed in following this thread until I noticed 1Shot's avatar .....now I cannot remember what I wanted to say in my post.

My Savage F-Class loves 42 of RL15 with the 168 SMK seated at 2.800 with Wolf LRM primers. I have only used fed match brass to play with finding a load, but I will be breaking out the lapua brass soon and can't wait to see what it gives me with this load. It is just bunching them into little groups.

Here is what I used:
41 grs of RL15
168gr Hornady BTHP Match seated .005" off of lands
2534fps
Douglass barrel purchased from SSS

Ran out of Hornadys and couldn't find any in stock so I bought 500 168SMK. I have just worked out a load, but I don't chrono any more. I just find my drop out to 600yds (max at my range) in 100yd increments. Didn't have tome to check 50yd increments yet.

43gr of RL15 seated .010" off of lands.

I have a Broughton 308 28" 1-10twist barrel.

43.5gr's of RL-15 with 175gr BTHP Sierra Match should be the best load?

Is the below also good for 600yds?

That load would be good all the way out to 1000 yards most likely. RL15 works quite well in the 308.

Good shooting,
Gary
