What scope would you put on your 17HMR? Paper shooting and hunting!

Give us your price range: low (<$150), mid ($150-400), high (>$400), unlimited... (>$800).. :'( :'(
I have a Burris 6-18x on my Sako FinnFire. For targets, I will go to max power. Rarely going over 10x in the field. I have taken a few rabbits at 100 yds. It all depends on what you want to spend. There certainly are some good functional low end scopes, but I have mid-range glass on all my rifles - rimfire or centerfire. I will slowly start working towards replacing them with high-end. Just never look thought high-end scopes and you will be fine. Resist the temptation. It will cost you a lot of $$$ if you do.

8-25 is a good range.
I have one on my 22LR mkII and it works.
Its a Mueller though and the dot is really too big.
I already owned it and did not want to buy another scope.
Really need a 1/8th dot or fine crosshair as the dot covers too much of the bullseye for me.
If you hunt more than target shoot a 4 or 5 - something would be better.
If mostly target a higher power.
A millet 6-25 is about $400 and has a fine crosshair.
The mueller 8-32x target scope looks nice and is about $230.
Well worth $230.

IMO a mueller target scope is about as good as its going to get for under $300.
The nikon buckmaster 6-18x is a decent scope, but I think the reticle would be too thick.
Its $360
If you wanted to spend more like $600 I would say a sightron 6-24 but I am not sure about the reticle.
A weaver 36X is a good target only scope for about $450

I like my Mueller 8.5-25x44 on my Savage .17hmr. Those holes are small and hard to see when punching paper so good power is nice. Recommend the Mueller, have 3! If I may I would also recommend, www.mizzoumuleguns.com Great guy and a great prices on Muellers plus other items. This scope is $160 with shipping anywhere in the USA and comes with the free sunshade. ;D

Believe it or not the simmons Whitetail Classic is what I use on my 17 HMR and it seems to be a perfect setup. You can get these on sale from Midway and they have clear enough glass for any shooting @ 100 yds.

I put on a Leupold VX-I 4-12x40. It won't break the bank at $315 and the LRD recticle is nice.
