I found this article why browsing the net. The axis did very well at the range when compared to much more expensive guns even in the 10 shot no cool down test.

They sent the axis to a company that "straight jackets" the barrel for $350.00. The best 3 shot group at 500 yards was .866!!!!

It appears many site members try to steer people away from the Axis for whatever reason but you can't ignore how accurate they are out of the box. More accurate than my older Savage 110 or 111 are.

I'm seriously considering this on a factory barrel. If it's that good, this could extend my shooting into the hotter months.

For $350 you can buy a prechambered match barrel.

Yes indeed. But what if you "straight jacketed" a match barrel???

It sounds like a great thing. the simple understanding of what the straight jacket-ing process does seem to make pretty good sense. I guess it all has it's plavce for sure, i just don't think i'll ever need a gun that accurate lol. I know many of you would love that, but if i'm shooting sub 1 moa between 100-200yds I think that's where i'll get most use out of my gun in the field.

both are good reads though for sure.
