Anyone have any luck with blc-2 in their 223 ? I have 3 223s I am working with, and 2 are shooting great with H335, the third is doing ok with 335 but nearly as good as the other 2, in the trouble maker I have tried 335, h4198 and varget, I am considering blc-2 next or maybe rl-15 but I hate to buy a whole can of powder then if it doesnt work out I will only have used a little of it and the rest will go to waste because nobody wants a can of powder thats been opened.
If not blc-2 any other suggestions ? I know there has to be a good load out there for this barrel, I just cant hardly believe that I have a savage barrel that wont shoot well under an inch @ 100 yards.

BLC2 is great in a .223. I use a lot of it.

Bad shootin Savage barrels are not common but out there....If a 223 barrel will not shoot a SPSX bullet in front of H335 it aint worth useing.
I would take off the barrel that isnt shooting up to snuff and either rechamber it to something else or just replace it with a 223 barrel that will behave itself.
Lifes too short to try to get three barrels to shoot the same load.

I hear ya CJ, I know they wont all shoot the same load, heck with different lots of brass you have vary the charge a little, but it sure would have been nice if they would have all shot good with the same powder.
I am not going to give up on this one though, its not like it shoots terrible, just not as good as the rest, but I guess my other 2 savage barrels and a couple A & B barrels have me spoiled, it was easy finding loads for them.
I will hit up a couple of my shooting buddies at work and see if we can trade some powders, hopefully one of them will have some blc-2 or benchmark or maybe even some 8208.

:)

Winchester 748 works great also. If I run out of 748 I'll use BLC-2 and vice-versa.

I LOVE BLC-2 AND BENCHMARK. I had to make my point and h335 is a dream.I turned to blc-2 and benchmark for my problem child.End of problems.I have more powders than a gunshop and they all have purpose. My .223's really like the 53 grain hollow point match bullets and the ground hogs cant tell the difference. The flat base bullets seem to work better at distances under 300 yards as they stabilize so quickly where a boatail with weight stabilizes further down range.I know I will get beat over the head for saying that but in the benchrest world it is a well known fact. The savages are 1in9 twist but most older remingtons are all 1in12.Try a flat base bullet sometime.

The bullet it shoots the best so far is a 55 gr V-max, and it has a flat base, I traded with a guy from work, gave him some 7828 to try out in his 7mmSTW and he gave me some benchmark, if that dont work I guess the blc-2 is next.
Going drag racing this weekend so the shooting will have to wait until next weekend.

DRAG RACING,had to make my point,LOL What kinda car or bike do you race?Just curious as I used to drag back in the late 70's with a 65 ford falco with a well massged 302 with factory over the counter triples. It screamed and only weighed 2650 on the scales. They used to put me in f modified production so I couldnt beat anybody, they were wrong.

I worked up a load for my Rem 700 HB Varmint rifle (Circa 1973) using BLC-2,CCI BR4s, and 52gr Sierra Match HPBTs found in a Speer #8 Manual. It cut 5 shot ragged holes @ 100 yds all daylong and still does! (Sorry no SAvage 223, but I do have killer M12 220 Swift!-use 4064).
