I got my Hornady OAL guage and a ogive attachment for my calipers. Using a 178 Amax, I got 2.83 OAL 178 AMAX to the lands and
Ogive measurement 2.2095 to the lands. This seems awful short for a chamber. I know Remingtons have horribly long chambers, but my Savage seems awful short. I'm pretty sure I measured right and the numbers I got were averages of several measurements. What kind of measurements are you guys getting? Rifle is a 10fp 20" with brake

What caliber? .308 I presume.

Yup 308 and the 1st number isnt to the lands, just the overall length of the gauge once it engaged the lands.

What other bullets do you have? I would help out, but i don't have 178 Amax.
I have 175 Sierra's & 110 vmax.

I only have calipers right now and my OAL with a 165 nosler green tip is 2.830 touching the lands. The combined technology 168 gr. OAL is 2.860. Big difference for 2 bullets made by the same company and only 3 grain difference.
