What primers work well with Hodgdon 4831sc? Looking for opinions as always, thanks in advance, kdvarmint.

ive used WLR for about 15yrs. tried magnums but gained pressure and lost accuracy and velocity in my 25-06

I have used Rem 9 1/2 primers when loading for my brother in-law's .300 win mag. they were what I had (as opposed to testing what worked best), but they have shot just fine. I am sure any standard primer will work...

I've always used just plain primers for loading, but did buy a box of 1000 mag. primers just for my 6.5x47 because every one was saying they work better for that cal. Will i'm back useing my BR-4 primers as they give me better groups. Then agine my oldest son use's nothing but mag. primers in every thing he loads and is happy with them. I guess you just have to fine what works best for you.

I use that powder in 300 WSM, 243 Win and 260 Rem, all with Fed 210M primers. No need for a magnum primer on "normal" sized cases...

Another thing to consider is weather conditions. While standard primers may work fine in Arizona in June, a slow burning powder like 4831 may need a little extra uumph to ignite properly if you've been carrying it around for several hours in Montana in November at -15 degrees.

I use Wolf large rifle magnum primers for all of my hunting loads.
