How have the Savage 6 BR Norma's been shooting? Based on forum posts it seems like 6.5 X 284 owners have a 50/50 chance of getting a good one. I haven't read many posts from 6 BR Savage shooters. Anybody shooting a Savage 12 Benchrest or LRPV or F Class in 6 BR? What kind of groups are you getting.....at short and long range?

I did an article on the 12 benchrest in 6br, but you would have to be a member to access it. The one I had would shoot .5 are 5 shoot 100 yard groups, and occasionally shoot a .3 are 5 shot 100 yard group. At 200 yards it would groups around a 1 inch. Never got to shot it at longer yards.

I posted this on the 6mmBR several months ago, here is what I reported.

THIS LOAD HAS BEEN DETERMINED TO BE SAFE IN MY GUN. IT MIGHT NOT BE SAFE IN YOURS. ALWAYS START LOWER AND WORK YOUR WAY UP.

My gun is a stock Savage F class in 6mmBR

I have been using Varget in Lapua cases with what I would consider good but not great results. Mid to upper .2's and low .3's These are ONLY 3 shot groups @ 100yds. I was wanting to see the crono results.

Used RL 15 to see if that would make a difference.
No real pressure signs, primers were not cratered, nor flattened had nice rounded edges looking through a jewlers loop. All specs were within acceptable ranges when mic'd. FPS were 2925. So I continued with the 31.2 loads. Checking each case after every shot.

The group with the 31.2 of RL15 and Berger 105VLD .0015 into the lands and a BR4 primer SHOT ON HOLE at .110" Crono readings were as follows:

High 2935.8
Low 2926.1
SD 4.8
CV 0.16%
MAD 3.4
CV 0.12
Avg. 2931.1
ES 9.2

I think I have found a starting point

My standards are probably lower than yours, Coverdog. If I was shooting in the mid .2- low .3s I would be happy...very happy. Now, about the .1 group, has that been repeated or was it a one-timer? The chronograph numbers are excellent! Anyway, it is good to hear. Thanks for the load too.

I had one, and its a great round.

I first loaded varget then switched to 29 gr H4895 shooting 105 lapuas jammed about 15.

Immediatly shot a 4 shot 3/4" group at 300 yards with no load developement with 2 bullets through the same hole in an unbedded rifle.

Zeroed at 100 yards, I was shooting holdover, with a Nightforce scope at 20X.

That was an off the shelf barrel from midway. Still dont know why I sold it !!
