Just wondering if anyone has tried the 25 WSSM in a short barrel. I've always wanted to convert my .243 Striker. Any thoughts ? What exactly would have to be done. New bolt face ? I don't really care about the mag. I'd be fine with single shot. I'm partial to the .25's so any other cartridge suggestions are welcome! Thanks folks!

Why not a 250 Savage or a 250AI? Decent speed, mild recoil, cheap brass (just neck up 22-250 brass), and dies are readily available. All you'd have to do is rebarrel, your mag and bolt face should work fine.

To change your gun to a WSSM you would have to rebarrel (of course) and find a left hand .532" Bolt Head for a Short Action. Don't know how easy or hard that would be, never looked for one.

Just my $0.02 and $0.02 ain't worth much :)

Thanks for the reply. Am I correct in assuming the 250's are close in ballistics to the WSSM?

How about a 25-06AI. Same bolt head as the .243. I bet that would have some stank on it from a pistol.

No not so much, a little lighter duty. Still a nice cofortable 25 cal to shoot and depending on your needs should do very well up through deer sized game. 250AI would be comparable to your 243 give or take.

A 25-06 or 25-06 AI would be a nice little hand cannon round with great performance, but you would definatly have a single shot with that and probably with the 25 WSSM. You may want a brake with this one.
