I bought a 300 Winchester in a model 110 Tactical 5 years ago and that is just what I paid for it brand new. So with the way the prices have gone up on the Savages in the passed 5 years if it is in excellent condition and hasn't been shot a lot probably is about right for retail.

This is a model 110 FP with tactical etched on the bolt.
Factory synthetic stock.

That is pretty much top price for the older non accu-trigger FP110, but I think closer to $400 is better than fair.
I did not know they made the .223 tactical in a long action myself. I have owned 4 "tactical" FP10s only. I sold one of them 2 yrs ago for $400 & it had over 6k rounds through it.

As stated, try talking him down to $400.

I called Savage about the M110FP and it was mfg. in 1997.
I can't get him to come down on the price.
I might be ahead of the game getting a newer gun.

If it is absolutely top shape, I'd give him the $450.00. I have one in .308 and have bedded it and tuned the trigger. It far outshoots my Accu-triggered, Accu-stocked 10FLCP-k with the potato masher on the end. I regularly get 3/8" groups with 174 gr. MKs.

I think $450.00 was about what I paid for it almost 15 years ago.
