I have just acquired two new Contender barrels. They are a .30 cal. Herret and a .357 Herret. I have a bunch of cases sized but I would like to know if any here has had any experience with these calibers. Both barrels are 14". What with the current price of reloading supplies, I would like to try some proven loads first. ???

I know those were used a lot in Metallic silhouette if you checked some of those pages or google the names you should come up with good starting points.

Reeds has custom Herret ammo which is pretty good. You may have to wait a little while for him to load some up but it's worth the wait if you do not reload yourself. http://shop.reedsammo.com

I'll dig up my .30 Herrett loads if I can find them. I have a really good one for the 125 grain Nosler Ballistic tip. The Herrett rounds were developed for the 10" barrel and my data was developed in the 10" tube. The 14" barrel I had in .30 Herrett was re-chambered to .30-30 AI for better ballistics and more down range pop. I happen to have an almost new set of Hornady .30 Herrett dies including a file trim die if you need them, I could be persuaded to swap them I'm sure.
