Hi Guys,
Picked my Savage 10 FCP-K in 223 today. Waiting for the scope, rings & mount to be delivered.

Probably going to break it in next weekend.

During the break in period should I use factory ammo or would my reloads be ok?
Would either way make a difference?

Also, want kind of range (yardage) is this rifle capable of?

Is there anything I need to do before I shoot it? Other than a cleaning?

Thanks,
ah

Factory or Reloads, shouldn't make any difference.

Some people believe in break-in, some don't. I have done both ways, haven't seen a difference. If break-in makes you feel more confident about your barrel then by all means break-in. My first Savage didn't get a break-in and it shoots great. I broke in the rest and didn't notice that they were better, but still do it anyway.

Range? I use mine out to about 300 yards. Others have used them on P-Dogs and such out a lot further. If I am going farther I have other calibers for that, but the 223 will do it with the right loads.

Hope some of that helps and be sure to let us know how it does for you.

Just figure around 75 to 100 rounds before it smooths out.
Thats what my .223 and .308 took.
