Yes, I have a model 14 in .243 and it has pillars. It also has cross bolts to support the pillars, you could call it overkill on a .243, I guess Savage just wants to do it right.
I have bedded my rifle and otherwise accurized the gun, it will shoot sub half moa on three shots at a hundred yards on factory ammo.
