I don't know if this should be a reloading article or a rifle article. I purchased this 10fcp HS in the spring of last year. Since then it never ceases to amaze me witH it's accuracy. It loves Lapua 185 scenars.I finally got around to tryIng IMR 8208,and Berger 168 VLD. Load is 42.2 IMR 8208@2.821 oal. One hole at 100 yes, consistently, get this! .256 @ 200 yds. This has been the easiest rifle to get to shoot that I have ever owned!I love this rifle, and really like this new 8208 powder.(it loves 185 lapua with H-380) they to are most of the time one holers.

Lucky You. Although having only shot at 200 with a 35 mph wind from the left. the best I could do with Sierra 168 Match was 2.5". Maybe with no wind. We'll see. Good shooting.

I would agree with Pizzabox!!!! You were very lucky to have one that shoots that well. As strange as it might sound they all don't!!

it loves 185 lapua with H-380

What is your load with the above.

I have a FCP McMillian, it also shoots just about anything. I will be glad to share load info with you. Trouble is, the gun loves almost any factory loaded ammo.

HSM 175 BTHP is a cloverleaf for me anytime. Also shot some 110 grainers and cloverleaf's them

My load on the original 185 lapua was near max load of h380. That is not the powder of choice for a308, but I inherited two pounds and thought I would give it a try. The oal was 2.765 which is a little short by most usual settings, but man did that load shoot. It preferred WLR primers as H380 is one that likes a hot spark. I find that h380 burs dirty, and velocity is low, but I bought this rifle for accuracy , not speed. Since then I have tried 4895 and Varget which is tough to beat in any 308. But this 8208 seems to be the deal, and it flows and meters very smooth.I have since then also seated the bullet out closer to the lands, to about 2.810 or there a bouts. Have not tried 175 smk yet, but everybody says that they shoot . I love these Bergers though! Good shooting, AIM SMALL! MISS SMALL.

I think your rifle is wortless...one hole at a 100?? Just sell it to me and get a better shooting one.

The more I hear about savages, the more I want to sell my custom Remingtons and be a true convert!!!!

My first savage was a 10FP .308 with the HS stock but it was the original one with out the detachable magazine. I didn't reload back then and I couldn't get it to shoot anything under about 2 inches at 100yds with any factory ammo. I sold it to another forum member with 2 boxes of Federal 168gr GGM who has become a good friend of mine over the years and he sent me pictures of little 1 hole 3 shot groups at 100yds with said Federal 168gr GMM. The rifle shot just fine, it was me that didn't have a clue. Wish I had never sold it as I have never seen another one with the original HS stocks again.
