Is 50.5 grains of H4831CS too hot for the 6.5/284?

depends on your gun and as always start lower and work up to any load. now that the disclaimer has been said. i am above that with my 6.5x284 savage F class and showing no pressure signs at all. hope this helps.

I was running 50.0 and 50.5 with the same bullet and powder in mine. I switched away from the SMK as I was getting flyers out of the group that I couldn't get rid of. I'm shooting the 139 gr Lapua scenars now with the same powder charge. I'm also getting good groups with the Berger 140 gr VLD's, but the scenar's are slightly better.

+1 on the "depends on your gun", or more precisely, it depends on your chamber. Each rifle chamber is it's own individual. My barrel is a McGowen.

I'm using Lapua brass and Fed match primers. I'm also neck sizing with a Redding neck bushing die.
