Assuming I rent the reamer and gauges, what is the drill for improving my .243?

I have a stainless short action sporter.

I think I know how to proceed, but it never hurts to ask around.

I believe that in order to get a complete clean-up in the shoulder / neck area that it may be necessary to run the reamer deeper. In doing so you may have to take some material off of the barrel.

I dont consider a AI chamber a home gunsmithing job. I suggest taking it to a smith. Get it done right.

If you use a drill you will probably need a new barrel and buy that reamer. You can get it set back like it needs to and chamber cut for around $75 usually

It would be easier to ream it out to 6mm or 6mm AI, you wouldn't have to have the barrel trimmed off after you get to the right depth. Hope this helps

Only if you can check by to see if the chamber is oblong my hand and inline with the bore

By the time you pay for the reamer rental and shipping and the possibility of the project not going well $75.00 to a gunsmith is worth it. Sinman just converted a 308 to 300 wsm for me for 75.00. Can't beat it.
