The rifle will be used mainly for coyote and for some long range target. Someone has mentioned that I should get chrome lined. Will probably be going with 70gn Ballistic Tips. I would like a heavier contour. What twist, length and who makes barrels chambered for this round?

I just mounted my Shillen 243 wssm today. I ordered it from Northland and it came in in about 3 months. It is a 28" straight 1" tube with a 1/8 twist. Hopefully I can shoot it this week. I have been thinking about the nitride treatment but I may just wing it and see how far it will go.

ER SHAW also lists all wssm and wsm on their website.

As soon as you figure out what you like in your barrel and the way it shoots, order yourself 1 or 2 more spares.......
Don't ask me why you should?

I have a mod 70 stealth II in it and I actually just cut one on my lathe

Finally really got to shoot mine today. .25" group at 100 with Sierra 70gr HPBT and 760 powder. I shot a bunch on different loads and that was by far the best. I have to move it out to 200 next though. The only bad thing I could see with it is if used a hunting rifle the empties do not eject about 80% of the time. This is not bad for me with a single shot follower and just shooting targets. I built this on a Model 11 300 wsm large shank action.

Mine is also a model 11 .300 WSM. Does that mean its a large shank as well?

I would think so if it is a new model for sure. Mine had a smooth nut, bolt release in front of the trigger guard, and there is a step down on the barrel from just in front of the nut. If it has all of those it is a large. Or you can call Savage and ask them. Just provide the serial number.
