SSS muzzle brake

Has anybody ever had the muzzle brake from SSS installed on there rifle? Did you like the recoil reduction, and was the noise increase within reason? Is it blended in to the barrel so that the seam is really hard to see? Also, has any one ever had him turn a barrel to the sporter contour?Thanks for any replies in advance.... rsbhunter

Yup the break works very well, and is well blended. Yes noise did increase a small bit, but you have to have a trade off. SSS test their breaks in a moving sled that is designed to see how affective the break is, they have also tested the competition. The SSS design is the best for recoil reduction.

I have a SSS radial brake that I had Fred install when he did my Brux 260 barrel. I gotta say it is a thing of beauty. When installed you cant tell that there is a seam. Just looks like a ported barrel.

I had him put it on cause it is for a longrange varmint gun and I wanted to see my hits. The recoil reduced to almost nothing and the rifle doesnt jump hardly at all. The noise level is louder though, which has to be expected. I did find that the back blast was more right in your face than it is off to the sides, which is due to the holes around the top of the barrel. Actually gave me a headache the first time I shot it ::) :D.

Like 82boy said you have to have a trade-off. Noise and back-blast for reduced jump and recoil. The radial brakes are nice because you dont have to have the brake timed like with a side-port brake., so theres no need for shims and you can easily switch actions if need-be as well.

I am very satisfied with mine, both with the quality and function of the brake, and the quality of the install.
