I'm building a 6BR on a Stevens action primarily for GHogs out to 300-500 yards. I was leaning towards something a bit heavier like the 105gr V-Max to buck the elements but I have read some very good results with the 75 and 80gr bullets.

Anyone have any recommendations or success stories?

Thanks in advance for your response

I am in the middle of some test right now preparing for a prairie dog hunt in Kansas. I have had very good luck with the Hornady Vmax 75 gr. with 27.5 gr H322 powder, I am shooting an F Class 6mm BR 1-8 twist. I also am planning on loading some 105 AMax with 28.3 grains of Re15 seated to the lands not jammed. Works best for me. Good luck

I shot this one at 523 yards with a 6BR and a 75 grain Vmax. I've also shot many at around 400 yards and the 75 grain Vmax works very well.

My 12 twist 6BR doesn't know the difference between a Nosler 70 BT

or a Sierra 70 BK.......the 75 V max is also very accurate & deadly...

p/dogs are my game out to 600+ with the 6BR......

I take it you are going with an 8 twist, otherwise you wouldnt mention the 105's. I shoot 87gr Vmax w/ 30.3-30.5gr of Varget out of mine, and have killed prarie dogs out to 875yds with it. Shot alot in the 500-600 yard range with varying wind conditions, and inside of 400 yards it was not even a challenge. It is a great mid weight bullet for the 6mm's.

Oh, they group really well also. So well I sold the 550pcs of 105amax I had for it.
