Anybody here have a 22-250 with a fast twist barrel (1:7-9)?

I've got a Ruger No.1-V with a 14 twist that shoots very sweetly, but I'm really curious about launching 68-80gr bullets with 22-250 oomph and how they compare downrange to a 223. I just put a takeoff 9-twist 223 barrel on a 12FV but now I'm thinking about a faster twist 22-250 tube.

I'm sure on paper within 200m it doesn't make much of a difference, but I can't help but think performance on varmints or longer-ranges would be greatly improved by an extra 300-400fps.

Ideally, I'd like to use 50-52gr bullets as well as 68-80gr bullets.

I would not go faster than 9 personally for a 22-250.

7 is way too fast for a 22-250.
1:8 would be better than a 1:7.

A 1:9 twist should stabilize an 80 gr berger and thats all you need but you better check it out with some other fast twist guys here.

I forget the link, but a guy had built a 22x47 lapua 1:7 twist, and he figured it was so fast it was actually twisting and deforming 90 gr bergers and he lost a lot of bullets. He had set up the rifle exclusively for 90 gr match bullets.

He went to an 8 twist, still too much then settled on a 9 twist and that worked.
