I have a model 14 classic in 300WSM. And yes I know it's a large shank. Clip fed. Was looking to get another barrel for it , that
would like to chambered in a factory round. Have looked at the WSSM rounds , and 6.5 Remington Mag. I have a Browning in 223wssm
and a Remington 660 in 6.5 rem mag.
The 223wssm goes right into my clip. So was thinking about the 243WSSM.
The 6.5 rem mag fits in clip also.
Both the 6.5 rem mag and 223WSSM work with the bolt face that's on there. So no bolt parts needed.

So I would like any input from you guys out there. Thanks.

It all depends on what you want to do, if it was me I would do a 243 wssm or a 6.5 wsm. You can do pretty much anything you desire

I have a model 11 in 300 wsm. I love that round and actually just got a 30" 308 and sinman is going to rechamber it to 300 wsm. I also have a 243 wssm shilen barrel in the works but I have no experience yet with the wssm. Both rounds seem to deliver very good performance. The next step for me would be a 6.5 wsm or 257 wsm.

The only one you guys seem to not mention this thread is 270 wsm. Why is that? I've had one for maybe 3 or for years now, but only shot 3 rounds through it. Just not a round thats my style, but more importantly I don't reload yet. I'm thinking about re-barreling it. And after seeing in this thread almost every WSM and WSSM mentioned makes me wonder if others have the same opinion. I'm maybe thinking 6.5???

Keep your 270 wsm barrel and load some 95 gr TTSX bullet over some RL17 for about 3800 fps.
Produces some interesting holes

I was looking for a 270 wsm but I just got a good deal on the 300 wsm and had to get it. Now I would never look to a 270 after seeing what the 300 can do.

Two different animals really.
Only reason to shoot a 270 WSM over a 300 WSM is if you want to shoot lighter bullets faster and flatter and maybe for a bit
less recoil, but with the 300 you can load up 220 gr bullets for larger game.

Since the 6.8 spc has come along there are all sorts of good light 277 bullets.

I have a normal 270 win now, but did consider the 270 WSM.
We already have a 270 weatherby magnum, so I could not see much sense in building a
custom 270 WSM.
