The 3200 series Bushnells are great value for the money, it should serve you well. I've never heard anything bad about the 3200's.

I had one on a 300win. It worked great. Tracked and repeated fine past 1k.

i am glad to hear it did well especially on 300 wm. i mounted mine on an egw 20 mil mount and the scope is boar sighted at about a 100yds and there is no more uper end of adjustments on the scope left. hopefully i can get it sighted in at 100 or 200yds and just have adjustments for lond distance to play with.

I had not either, until the last one I bought (a 10x40). It would not track at all. No matter what I did with the elevation knob, it shot 6" low at 100. I sent it back to Midway for a refund. I've got an older one that I bought from a member here that has been great. Luckily, I just mounted that one on the rifle, and I'm good to go now. Otherwise I would have been SOL for a match this weekend.

EDIT: Reading that it sounds pretty negative. I still love Bushnell, and in fact would buy the same scope again. I just happened to get a lemon.

this weekend will be the first time i will have shot this scope, but more importantly it will be the first time my new build has been shot. the scope looks clear to me when i look around the neighborhood with it. lets see how it does at the range.

What exactly are you planning on using the scope for? Do you want/need target turrets? What ranges (min and max) will you be shooting at? How much magnification do you want? Do you want/need a ranging reticule?

Bushnell discontinued the 3200 and 4200 lines first of the year and replaced them with the Elite line. They are priced with the old 4200 line. The 3200 models that were carried forward into the Elite line got upgraded glass it would appear and all of them went to argon purging instead of nitrogen. I was lucky enough to pick up several of the 4200s on closeout. ;)

i would like target turrets
any where from 100 to ?(1000) i havent yet cause i am still figuring loads, but eventually i would like to do some long stuff with it. i was kind of looking at the 4200 6-24 tact i am also building a 7stw for long range and will be looking for a scope to put on there eventually

The Bushnell 4200 6-24 tactical has nice glass (both FFP and SFP versions, I have one of each) but they are not great for across the course type stuff because they don't have a lot of elevation adjustment. Also since it is a milling reticule, you will dislike how fat the reticule is @ 24x on the FFP version.

The 3-12x44 FFP version might be a better choice.

The problem that you might have with either is that the 4200s are discontinued and were replaced with the Elite series. All the 4200s that were on clearance are gone now so you'll be paying full price unless you have some kind of good discount somewhere.

The Vortex Viper PST series might have what you're looking for. The 4-16 model has 75 MOA of adjustment. The reticule is also really fine. It is available in FFP and SFP versions, but it isn't cheap. You're looking at $700 for SFP and $850 FFP.

I am also doing research on a new scope. For me I want a low power of 2x-4x and a high power of 10x-12x (min) with a first focal plane reticle and side focus. So far I've come up with four contenders:
- Bushnell Elite 3-12x44mm FFP MIL/MIL 20mrads(72 moa) elevation $669.00
- Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50mm FFP MIL/MIL 21mrads (75moa) elevation $849.99
- Leupold Mark 4 LR/T 3.5-10x40mm FFP 65 moa elevation $1499.99
- IOR Valdada Long Range Tactical 3-18x42mm FFP MIL/MIL 22 mrads (79 moa) elevation $1549.00

I don't like the lash in the Leupold scopes which requires the shooter to reset the side focus at infinity and then having to refocus for closer distances. Miss the focus and you have to start over again. I am not aware of this problem having been worked out yet - someone can correct me if I'm mistaken.

I would like to find someone local with the Bushnell & the Vortex to compare.

Calib.......I purchased 4 of those Tactical scopes before last Christmas and mounted them on our new Savage model 12 rifles. Also picked up a 3 x 9 and 4 x 12 Bushnell 3200 series scopes, put those on the wifes new rifles. Calibers are .204-Ruger x 2, .223 x 2, a 22-250 and Ruger M77 in the bull barrel 25-06 caliber.

I have shot a couple of the rifles at the range and scopes are very easy to zero. I have the mil-dots and turrets to in 5 x 15 power. They should serve us well for the P-Dog hunt this early summer. I still have to work out handloads for all these rifles this spring. Those Bushnell scopes were a great buy at $350 dollars, Leuopld wanted over $600 dollars for such a scope as the Bushnell Tactical. Looking through both those scopes at least twice outside, I could not see were the Leupold was brighter or had better optics. The Leupould got a little fuzzy going up the power range and the Bushnell was clear as crystal.
