Bushnell 4200 Elite 6-24x40

Alright guys, I'm almost done picking your brains. I want to buy an Elite 4200. Considering they are being discontinued and are on sale, I feel like I will get the most bang for my buck. As a college student, that means a lot to me. I would like a 6-24 mildot, but everywhere is sold out, so I am thinking about this:

I like it a lot except it has 1/8 moa elevation adjustments and because of that only has 26 moa total adjustment. I would like to be able to dial in 800+ yard shots with this mounted on my 6.5x55 Swede, is this little internal adjustment risky business? I was thinking about a 20 moa base so that in theory I would have 6 moa adjustment down and 20 moa adjustment up. That would allow for plenty of adjustment, but does it always work out that well? Anyway, feel free to throw in your $0.02.

James, I just bought that scope about a week ago. It's a great value for the price. The glass is really nice.

I'm using it for varmints and the dot is gret on p-dogs.

You could use a 20moa base, or you can get Burris Signature rings with the offset if you ever need more elevation. I'd suggest you get those rings IF you think you may need movement later. Some on this site also recommend them and they are currently on sale at midway (last I checked) part number 416175

So can anyone else shed some light on whether or not either Burris Sig Zee rings or a 20 moa base will provide me with enough internal adjustment with this scope?

You'll need the combination of the Zee rings with offsets on the 20 MOA base to get a 100yd zero. You only have effectively 13MOA adjustment from center so putting it on a 20MOA base leaves you needing 7MOA more just to get it back to the original mechanical center. Basically, you can set that scope up for long range on an angle base or for short range on a flat base but the ability to dial back and forth is not gonna happen. I'm not bagging on the scope, I own two of them, but it isn't the right scope for what you want.

agreed. i just set up a model 12 and am at loss myself with the mildot 4200 im zeroed @100 with the very top dot with a 20moa base which im not bangin on if i do things right and use the dots and ranges i could do it that way but why when theres other options.
