5.6x50mm chambering

I'm using the Rimmed version in a O/U Rifle/Shotgun combo. Brass is very hard to come by and expensive. There is little advantage in it over the 222Rem Mag. If you still think you want something with a little larger capacity than the Rem Mag and still keep the small bolt face the wildcat 22-204 fills the bill. PTG has the 22-204 reamer (got mine there) and just punch out a 223 barrrel (worked well for me).

Or step up a touch with two possibilities - 223 AI or 222 Magnum AI.

I believe the 22-204 is very close to the 222Rem Mag AI as the shoulder is moved forward, and just a little larger capacity than the 223AI and there is no fireforming needed, with the 30degree shoulder will feed better. I've played with this case alot and am shooting a 22-204, 6mm-204 and a 25-204. The 22-204 is my winter pelt hunting rig and the 6mm-204 is my general goto coyote gun and the 25-204 is my deer rig with 100gr Patitions equalling 250Savge Factory ballistics 100gr at 2800fps.

204 parent case is the 222 Magnum.

22-204 is a step below in the speed department when compared to the 222 Magnum AI.

Nice thing about having the 204 around....no need to buy expensive 222 Magnum brass!!!

Yes the 204's parent case is the 222 Rem Mag but they moved the shoulder forward, changed the shoulder angle to 30 degrees and slightly straightenned the body. That would make the 204 Ruger a 20-222 Rem Mag Improved 30 degree, not just a necked down 222 Rem Mag.

In the US, no reason to consider it - brass etc. is too expensive and hard to get and there are too many other rounds that duplicate it.

If you are in Europe, it may be a different story.

If you just want an oddball 22 with a European flair the 5.56x57 would be easier to do.
