Is there any way for a firing pin to hit the ammo cap harder? I had a few instances that it did not fire. I suspect that
the firing pin did not hit the ammo cap hard enough to fire it. I had to load the bolt twice and only then it fire. It happens
to my .308 ammo.
Any suggestion is much appreciated.

Sounds like the firing pin may not be set correctly.

Did you buy this rifle new or used? Can you show a picture of a fired case?

Is it an accu-trigger gun? Are you sure that the firing pin is striking the primer, and not the gun slam firing to a safe position in the accu-trigger from the trigger being set too light?

The rifle is bought new and model 12 with accu trigger. No adjustment is made to the original setting of the trigger which is believe is set at 1.5lbs. However, the problems normally occur to the military surplus ammo. If it did not fire on first attempt, i just lift the bolt, press the trigger, it will fire. This is what makes me think that the spring at the firing pin is weak, I may be wrong and I am just guessing. What is meant by firing pin not set correctly? Thanks.

Could also be that the ammo is shorter than the chamber and being pushed forward to the shoulder by the firing pin?

the firing pin should protrude past the bolt face to a specific measurement. I do not know what the specs are for your rifle. Im new to savage rifle so I don't know much about em yet.

Protrusion should be in the .050 to .055" range. As stated, your problem could very well be the harder military primers. How does it shoot with commercial rounds or handloads? If no problems with them, that narrows it down to the military hard primer.
