So it sounds like im gonna be buying some varget powder since most say that's what they use. As for the lead I was looking at sierra blitzkings and some soft points. Any input on them since most of you are useing v max?

I have a Predator DBM in 22-250. This is the only load I have ever shot in it.

55gr SBK over 37.1gr RL15, CCI BR2's, OAL to Ogive 2.095 which is a .005 jump, avg. 3725fps from the 22" barrel.

The last 3 shot group before the gun went into the safe was .156"

There are many good bullets and powders for a 22-250. My first loads were with the Speer 52g HP, maybe not the flashiest bullet around but shot great and would not exit a ditch tiger at even 100yds. 39.5g of W-760. Just pick something you like and go with it. Enjoy

blom....I too started loading the Speer 52gr hp over 30 years ago. I got to many crawl off's and then switched to the 55gr Sierra Blitz and then onto the Blitz King when that was introduced. I have never used anything else since.

Entirely possible, never used them on anything bigger than a woodchuck

38.5g Varget and 40 Vmax. This runs 4000 to 4100 fps in mine. Groups good and is a laser.

Looking into loading my own and wanted to see if anyone has a good load for the 22-250. Thinking im wanting to use 55gr bullets.

I've been trying to work up a load for my model 12vlp dbm in .22-250 as well. 1 in 12 twist so I also chose 55grn bullets. Sierra blitzking to be extact. So far I've had decent results with H4895 near the max load on Hodgon's website. If anyone else has a good load using these bullets, let me know cuz I'd love to save some time.

Hi just so you know Hogdon's max loads are no where near real world max loads, there is room to grow just increase in small in segments you will be amazed at the end result.

PS: there max loads were determind by a lawyer not a reloader.

Thanks for all the input!!! Now I have a? About brass. Is any of the factory loaded brass worth reloading? I was thinking of buying a big box of the win. white box. Figured I could shoot it up on barrel break in then work my loads. Opinions??

any and all of the factory brass is worth reloading.

HI personally I would start reloading right from the get go, those 40 rounds in that white box could be 4 shot groupings in 10 differant loads, it would not be final but it would put you close to where your sweet spot is, and anyway you still can reload 40 rounds for less than those white boxes cost and get a better round.

I tried that on a 243 because I was still waiting for brass to arrive. Results were dismal at best, then I just took a load out of a manual and things really looked up. I was close to parting that rifle out based on how it shot with factory ammo.

Absolutely NOT! All that factory loaded brass needs to be disposed of as soon as possible. Happens to be, I have a brass disposal service. Box all your factory brass and ship it to me. I will make sure the appropriate measure are taken with the brass. ;D ;D ;D

My pet 22-250 load has always been 41gr of 760. Using 50gr Nosler BT, 55gr Nosler BT, 60gr Hornady HP and Vmax. Ive settled on the 60gr VMAX now and ONLY shoot those out f my 22-250 now.
I worked that up in the early 90's before Varget existed and I was shooting at sea level back then. I think once I find a new 22-250 (my barrel is shot out now and I'm not sure if I want to re-barrel my ruger 77 or just get a savage.) I'll rework my loads and try out the Varget and RL15 too. Nice groups guys.
