I have read on other sites that the 220 has a bit of a problem with misfiring lately, yet a search on this site comes up empty. I am really interested in buying one for next falls hunt but I am having second thoughts. Please tell me this isn't true as I am still hurting from the beating my new marlin 39A gave me (if you know what I'm talking about). ;)

Only 1 guy on here has had an issue with his 220f misfiring. The problem ended up being that the tip of the firing pin was broken off so it wasnt hitting the primer hard enough. Some ammo would still light though.

After figuring this out Savage sent him a call tag, he returned the rifle, and Savage repaired it quickly and returned it. He has no further issues.

That is the only one I have heard about though. Mine work flawlessly. This year I fired it 4 times in the field, and killed 4 deer!

A lot of people have had issues with light primer strikes causing misfires. (Including me.) Savage corrected the problem by swapping in a new spring in the bolt assembly after I sent it in. Read a bunch more on the topic [pages 5 & 6] here:

Great gun if it goes bang everytime!
