So I got a new fluted bolt body from sss. They had them in stock and it arrived in a week! I am happy about that. The problem is the standing ejector on my crf 300 ultra mag. I do know it is hanging up in the flutes. How should I modify it to function properly? Should I use my Dremel to cut a groove in the new bolt body? Or would smoothing up the ejector be enough? It looks great and I want to be able to use it. Thanks for any help.

I am not sure what to do, but generaly do the simplist cheapist thing first. In this case, call Fred at SSS and ask, that way you wont screw up a good bolt.

Sell the bolt body and put a smooth one back on.

I would like to keep the bolt body. Would there be any cons to changing the bolt head out to push feed and removing the standing ejector?

Have you thought about sending in your original bolt body and having that one fluted? That is what i'm doing, and that way you already have a fluted bolt for the next build.....WHAT build you ask? Why the .338 Edge, or Lapua, or the 22 Cheeta, or the 6.5x300, or........But seriously, it would be alot safer to just have yours fluted...the 300 RUM actions are getting like gold and i wouldn't mess with stock one...just my thoughts...rsbhunter

There is no difference in the bolt bodies, just the bolt heads. If I were to get the old body fluted I would have the same problem.
