Got the 22-250 build complete and had a chance today to take a couple crows out of the back door. They were squawking and carrying on so I had to see what all the ruccus was about. I got 3 of them but a Redtail hawk swooped down and got supper before I could get to them & take pics. The gun is a build from a model 12 .223. The stock was from a forum member and the barrel from another member. The lug, trigger guard, & bbl wrench from NSS. I used a 52gr match king, 210M primer & 34gr of IMR 8208XBR. I'm really liking the new build and a big THANK YOU to the site and all the members here. Now if I can just get a Yote to stick his head out...

Good looking rifle. How far away were the unfortunate birds? Bet yea they didn't feel a thing.

I feel cheated, I came looking for a blown up crow and barely get road kill. Shoot some more and post them up. Nice looking gun too. What glass?

Crow season ends here in March. I'm still on the hunt but only have a couple more weeks. Coyote season is year round, I hear them calling about twice a week at night, but haven't been able to call one in during the day yet. Can't hunt them at night here. The crows were shot at about 100-125 yards. The last pic dosen't show it very well but there's a road going down the hill. I have it marked at 100yds at the bend in the road. They were in the tree on the left of the bend. I actually tried to get a pic of the hawk, he was flying away as I was walking down the hill. The cheap cell phone camera just don't cut it, so I didn't get him. The glass is a Vortex diamondback 4-14x40, it's been great so far. I haven't been able to shoot past 200yds so I don't know how it'll do farther out. The rifle is a build with everything but the action & scope bought from forum members. I'm very happy with the results, now if I just had more free time to go shoot...

Nice crows! My favorite crow gun is a 1970s era Savage 220 Swift Single shot w/a 26" HB. The very first crow I shot using Norma Factory ammo (48gr SP @4110 FPS!) was impressive to say the least! It was a solid hit at about 150 yds and it virutally exploded into 5-6 chunks! I still have it, it carries a 10X Bushnell scope and the load I've used for the last 35 yrs is a Sierra 52gr HPBT over a healthy dose of IMR4064 (per Speer #8) that has shot a 3/4 group at a ranged 300 yds! As recently as a month ago a feral dog(so my ex-felon dirt bag neighbor claimed-it's been at his house for 2 yrs) attacked my wife's Pomeranian and was ran off. It came back a few days later and fled when I came out. I came out with the Swift and waited for it to come out of the woods going home with the Swift resting on sandbags on my Blazer hood. It did, across a 25 acre pasture. It stopped to look back under a big oak tree and I busted his ass-355yds laser ranged to the tree later. I don't even remember holding over, I've shot this rifle enough to just know where to hold. He didn't even twitch!

Is it just me or do others find this odd? ;D

Looks a little undernourished to me. :P That one does. Good thing you put 'em out of his misery.

I caught that too! I had to read it a few times to truly understand what he was trying to say.
