not tryin to push the sale of this at all. Just thought it was a very cool Savage. Be a nice one to have in the safe!

WTH is the knot in the barrel for? Looks like somebody shot a 50cal bullet down it and it got stuck..... :D

I think it needs a SSS fluted bolt body, in Gold to match the trigger and stuff !!!!!

I didnt even notice the gold trigger, saftey and bolt release.

Your right, gold fishnet bolt would set it off!

These guns were sent to Germany to be engraved. this caused the serial numbers to get out of sequence on the presentation grade guns as it took a couple years for them to get done.
That bump is where they used to dovetail a rear sight. The bolt head and barrel are not the same as current savage and will not interchange.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v675/gcidso123/savage/early110bolthead.jpg the bolt head fit into the barrel about 1/4"

I have a 110PL (left hand) real similar to this. They are nice. Mine still has the iron sights attached. Now though, I use Redfiled mounts and a Leupold scope.

MR F use to have one like that.

His was a PLE. there are some 99s that got the same treatment.

All that $$ invested and they couldn't get a one piece scope mount to fit like it should. ::)

Looks like the old Redfield base/rings.

I really like the work that they did on that gun.

Savage should have done something like that for their Anniversary rifle they put out not too long ago.

I agree.

Some people put a sleeve over their barrel and then bed the sleeve in the stock. I know a guy that tapped the sleeve and free floated the action of his rifle. This "knot" might be a factory sleeve of some type.

No, as I said above it is a thick spot on the barrel for the rear sight to be dovetail into the barrel!

Oh I see! I was so overwhelmed with bling I thumbed through all the replies and missed it!

These guns were part of Savage's collaboration with Anschutz. The featherweight barrel, and stock are all Anschutz (see model 153s). That might explain the different bolt features.

the bolt features were just what the design evolution was at the time as they evolved from the super sporters.

Looks like a 1974 Savage 110PE with some custom scroll work done. I have a 110PL in 7 mag that looks a lot like this. Nice rifle!
