Rimmed rounds in a 110/200

I was looking around using the search feature and was only able to find info on the Savage 340 and similar Stevens models.

I was thinking about a possible bolt rifle in 25-35 WCF or in a wildcat 35/30-30.

Also would it be possible to do a 45-70? I have thought about this seeing as a Stevens 200 is still cheaper than what I can find a Siamese Mauser for.

Who would have the bolt faces compatible with flanged/rimmed rounds in these rifles? Also for the 45-70 I would probably make it a single shot so a magazine block would be all I need there...but for the quarter bore and 35/30-30 mebbe a 2 or 3 round mag capacity.

Any ideas? I know I can't be the ONLY one who has this idea?

Welcome to the site, You are not only one with such plans, there has been a few in the past that wanted to do this, but they had to abandon there plans do to lack of parts. You would have to find a machinist that would be able to do the work, because presently there is no one making such bolt heads. The reason why is one there is not enough want to justify making them, lets face it there are better calibers out there right now, that require less work. Well good luck in your endeavor.

rimmed cases are meant to have the have the hole case and rim inserted in the barrel for support. they have a weaker web then a rimless case that is intended to have a portion of the case sticking out of the barrel.

SOOOO, while it can be made to function you have to question how SAFE it might be?

okay...I can see why this would be...however with that being the case, then why is it that the 45-70 barreled mausers can run rounds UP TO levels of 458 WinMag?

Of course, one of my searches brings up the logic to just get a rechamber TO 458 WM which is an option of course...

For me, its simply a matter of having something kinda different. :)

Of you wanted a different bolt gun in 458 you should look at the 458 socom. I think that would be pretty fun and you can easily do it in a savage

The .35 Remington is a rimless case and is the sole survivor of a whole family of 30/30 equivalent rounds but rimless. The headsize is 0.460" so it's not interchangable with the "standard" .308/30-06/7 mm Mauser/8mm Mauser bolt face but if you really want one......
