How hard is it to put a new barrel on a Stevens 200?

I can get a stocked receiver for less than $100, and a factory barrel for also less than $100. I am no gunsmith but that would be a cheap way for me to get a decent rifle. What special tools, if any, would be needed? Any input is appreciated

You need at least a go gauge, receiver wrench, a barrel nut wrench, and a good vise and a little wood working skill, or a barrel vise. It is very fast and easy. It is the same as all Savages with the old barrel nut. Do a search, there are plenty of discussions on changing the barrel. You can also google it and find lots of resources.

Save a bit more by becoming a paid member to access the classifieds and get factory barrels for around $50. A stocked receiver at the price your getting it is a real bargain. I'd also invest in a good machined recoil lug to replace the factory stamped one. Brownell's has them at a reasonable price.
