Heres a pic of my Boots handle on a stevens bolt. I duracoated it flat black with two coats of clear flat for durability. I also lightly tapped threads into the body.

Dang Grouse, That one turned out really nice. I just looked at my sheet, and you are the only one that ordered an "Orignal" Handle with the "Hollowed" option. Feel special 'cuz you got the only one.

have you thought about maybe going the other way with your cutting the bolts and make it look like flutes, i think that would be bad ass

Whoa, I missed this thread. I was just wishing for an aluminum bolt handle on the LWH thread.

Question, how much does the removed part of the handle weigh? Or, how much weight would be saved if it was replaced with aluminum?

Well, I could do flutes i guess, it would be a little more machine time and another setup, but could be done on a special order kinda thing.
To do the flutes I would have to setup my indexing head/jig in the mill so there would be some added cost there.

They could be done out of aluminum I suppose. I'll have to look into that as far as pricing goes.

hey if you don't mind telling me, what kinda of
steel are you using? the reason i ask is you
gave me an idea. so i found a bolt about
4" long, when i say bolt i mean a bolt with
threads and a nut anyhow it is stainless
so what i plan on doing is drilling a hole in the center
and the grinding the old knob off my
handle fitting my new knob and grinding
to my desired look. hope i wrote that so you
could understand it. i do not have a lathe or
can afford to have a knob biult like i want
so i am going to try to make 1.

Why not just grind down your old knob and thread it with a die. You can ussually get a cheap die handle and a die for not too much at a Home Improvement Store or Tru-Value type place. If you do that the only thing I can say is cool your old handle often as you are grinding it. Wouldn't want it to get too hard, and since you are grinding it down that far you should be taking the factory Surface Hardening off which will make it a lot easier to thread.

So far I am just using standard cold rolled steel. However I do have Stainless and Aluminum in the works.

I thought I would give it a try and make my own for my Stevens 200 Project that Dangerous Dan is doing. He is also the one that helped me out with instructions for the handle. :)

My hat is always off to the do-it-yourselfer. That is what has made this country great is people inventing things and comming up with something different. Looks like a nice handle.
