I was cleaning my model 10 last night when I went to clean the bolt had a rude suprise. The rear baffle, the semi circular meatal part just in front the the cocking handle, fell off in my hand. I have almost 2K rounds thru this rifle since I bought it two and a half years ago. I found no other parts on the floor so dont know what else came off or is lost. I might have noticed something loosining if I had been more observant.... I am taking it to my local"smith" tommorrow to see what he can do. Anyone else had this happen?

No need to take it to a local smith, that piece is fitted on to the bolt by a bearing with a detent spring.

My model 12 BGTV has one that comes off easier than the others. Just slip it back on. You'll figure it out.

I shortened the spring that holds the ball detent in the baffle. My bolt lift is easier because of it, but the baffle comes off very easily. I'm willing to live with it because of how smooth the lift is. It just slips right back on.

How does the spring on the baffle affect the bolt lift?

Thanks to everyone who answered my post. Special thanks to jwpark for the video...that helps a lot. Ill have to see what I can do before I go to the gunsmith. Sure is a bad feeling to not have my favorite rifle out of operation....
