I built a 260 on a Savage LA and am looking for a bullet load combination. It'll only be used for target shooting from 100 - 600 yards. I presently load with 140g SMK's, 41.5g H4350 seated .020 from the lands. What have you found in your case? I'm thinking of going to 120 or 123 SMK's - maybe same powder. What's your experience? The abject here it tiny groups since i want to take this into competition.
Thanks.

I haven't fired my new 26" CBI barrel yet, but my Remington 700 MTN LSS .260 with a 22" thin sporter barrel likes 41.5gr H380 with a 120gr Nosler BT.

I only had time last year to work on hunting loads for my Remingon Model 700 (26 inch Kreiger barrel). The best load was this one using a Ballistic Tip (five shots under an inch at 200 yards).

Bullet: Nosler 120 gr. Ballistic Tip
Powder: IMR-4350 43.5 grs.
Primer: Federal 210
Case: Nosler
LOAL: 2.785 (2.262 base to ogive)
Average Velocity: 2916.88 fps
Extreme Spread: 24.60
Standard Deviation: 9.16

If your barrel is throated to match a long action you should be able to get even more velocity.
