Hi Gents,

Does anyone know the dimensions of the chamber as the 10FCP-K comes from the factory? (Namely, is it a SAAMI .223 chamber or a NATO/Mil Spec 5.56 chamber?)
As far as I know the main difference is in the Leade (~0.085 for the SAAMI and ~.16 for the 5.56 NATO), is this correct?

Basically trying to workout if I can safely shoot military loadings from this chamber or if I'd be risking high pressures due to the leade...

Cheers

When I ran my serial number for my 10FCP/K in through the Savage Parts Finder it indicated that the barrel was .223/5.56. That's about as definitive an answer that I have found.

I think the 10 and 12 series are .223/5.56 compatible but some of the 11 and 16 series may not. Not really sure though just a guess.

My understanding is that Savage cuts the chamber as an unnamed hybrid, but I haven't certified that as fact.

I have read that the current Savage 223 has a Wylde chamber so in that case you could shoot 5.56 nato safely.
I have never verified that so you probably should give Savage a call and ask them.

Well what did you find out? I just checked my chamber in my XP10 Predator and it come in at 2.375". The Federal rounds I first used for this rifle were only 2.245 COL Seems like a long jump space. Wondering if the answer is a long lead chamber to allow for 5.56 ammo.
