I have a 93R17 BTV. I want to improve my groups. When I checked of the stock and action it looked very different from center fire stocks and I couldent figure out how to glass bed it. This outfit http://www.savagegunsmithing.com/rimfire_rifles.html offers a "Rimfire Accurizing Package". It includes Re-crowning of the Barrel, a Trigger Job, Lapping the Barrel and Polishing the Chamber, glas-bedding and a 15 - 20 shots firing w/target. I don't know if the new accu-triger needs work. Idon't know that the factory crown can be improved. And I don't know if polishing the chamber does anything. I would like to here about people getting real results on there own, and if these guys are for real. Alec

Don't know about Savagegunsmithing, but you can find all you need on the Savage forum at rimfirecentral.com.

I had my BRJ accurized by Savagegunsmithing.
It used to shoot .4"'s and now I have got a best 5 shot group of .1" @ 50 yards.
The trigger breaks like glass at 10 OZ, I also got the 1/8" thick bottom metal, does not bend like the stock metal.
I found mine shoots best with 20 inch pounds on the action screws, couldn't do that with the stock bttom metal without hurting the stock.
The crown is first rate.
The lapping is to get rid of the high spots in the barrel that most Savage barrels have in them and does help the groups.
A bunch of guys on another site have sent their rifles to them and all have been very pleased wth the results.
It was money well spent. It usually shoots in the .1" to low .2" range depending on the wind and how well I'm shooting.
The .1" group was grease mark to grease mark, it measured .069" center to center.
If you want you rifle to shoot really good, I highly recommend Savagegunsmithing, the smith, Scott is a really great guy to talk with, very knowlagable. He also builds long range Savge CF rifles. Mine is a 22 LR, but the guys with the .17's say theirs shoots fantastic.\
