Cabela's had a NIB but pre-owned Savage Model 12 Benchrest for sale for $999. It's chambered for the 6 BR with the 8 twist. The previous owner never mounted a scope let alone fired the rifle. The salesman told me the previous owner needed some quick cash and sold it to them. I could only talk them down to $975 and put it on lay away. How'd I do? Not great but still a decent price is what I'm thinking. It is a gun I'd been hoping to find.
I'm really looking forward to the dual port action, the long range capability, and hopefully some 1/2" MOA LR accuracy. I think I've read most everything on-line about the model 12 and the 6 BR. Still, if any of you have experience with the dual port action, the Bench Rest model or Savage's version of the 6 BR I'd like to read about your experiences.
